Work/Volunteering in the UK

Dhanakosa Retreat Centre: customer services and bookkeeping

Self employed artist at St Barnabas Press, Cambridge

Voluntary work:

Wildlife Trust of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire: data entry, mail out and helped with various office based projects such as a photography competition, posters and leaflets, correspondence.

Lived and worked at Dhanakosa Buddhist Retreat Centre in Scotland. My work included bookkeeping, reception/customer services, maintenance (plumbing, decorating and gardening etc.). I also helped with projects, research and preparation, the main one was the installation of a biomass boiler.

While at Dhanakosa I supported and helped organize a number of the Photography and Meditation Retreats (usually two a year) and have continued to do so since leaving. I have also supported Meditation and Hillwalking and Meditation Retreats.

Did a six week door knocking appeal in London for the Karuna Trust, a charity working with the 'untouchable' community in India.

Worked for Windhorse Trading Ltd: Ipswich Evolution Gift Shop (1994-2009) part time and casually; at the head office in Cambridge (1997-1999) full time, doing warehouse work, admin and customer services and Hammersmith (London) Evolution Gift Shop (2003/2004) full time where I was the merchandising manager.

I have also helped out at Triratna Buddhist Community classes, participated in their study programmes and written for Urthona, their arts magazine, on Chris Drury and Tate Modern.

Volunteered and worked casually for Christchurch Mansion and Ipswich Museum as a Museum Assistant, assisting in security, conservation and exhibition work; Ipswich.

Helped Suffolk Interfaith Resource by manning reception, I also gave a talk on Buddhist art and wrote an essay entitled 'Buddhism Through Its Arts' for a religious studies course.
